Brooklyn Rae Silzer Breaks Silence on Shocking ‘General Hospital’ Exit in New Message: ‘Sad’

It’s the end of an era for Brooklyn Rae Silzer on General Hospital. The actress shared a statement about being recast on the soap opera.

“A little note to my @GeneralHospital family and fans who have loved me over the years,” she wrote on X on Monday, December 23.

“To my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma I am forever grateful,” she wrote. “Although sad my time as Emma has come to an end I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made. I am so lucky to have been casted as Emma 13 years ago and to have had the opportunity to grow her character over the years.”

Brooklyn, 18, appeared in 143 episodes of the soap opera from 2011 to now. However, the role of Emma has been recast. On December 23, Braedyn Bruner made her debut as Emma on General Hospital.

Many expressed support for Brooklyn amid her departure from the series.

“You ARE Emma to us. I’m hoping this was your choice. If so best of everything to you in your future,” one person replied to her post on X.

“We literally watched you grow up and so many of us adored the character of Emma..and so much of that is because of your portrayal! Your work with Jason and Kimberly was perfection! Excited for all your future holds! Blessings,” another person said.

Last year, Brooklyn revealed she was hoping to get into nursing school.

“I’m pretty busy with school. I’ve been applying for nursing school. That takes up most of my time. I’m taking pretty hard classes this year, but I’m hoping to stay local for college, maybe I can come visit General Hospital more often. That would be really cool,” she told Soap Opera Digest in November 2023.

She said that she was inspired by the show to go into the medical field.

“Ever since I started, I’ve known I wanted to be a nurse, I think since I was 6 years old,” she reflected. “I always said, ‘I want to be a nurse when I grow up,’ and it just stayed with me, and I’ve become more inspired as I’ve been doing volunteer work throughout my high school years.”

Braedyn, on the other hand, reflected on stepping into the role and getting to work with soap opera legends.

“She is so much fun to play,” the TV star told TV Insider in a December 23 interview. “This is the most fun I’ve ever had playing a character because she is incredibly nuanced and I’m finding more and more of her every day. I hope everyone loves her as much as I do.”

“I always say that storytelling and love are the two closest things we have to magic in this life,” she added. “Just being able to take wounds from our past and joys from our past and be vulnerable enough to go there is cathartic and beautiful, and getting to do that at this capacity and on General Hospital is really exciting.”
