Bridget Fonda Eying a Return to Hollywood: ‘Her Heart Has Been Drawn Back to Acting’ (Exclusive)

Bridget Fonda has led an extremely reclusive lifestyle since retiring from acting over 20 years ago, but she’s in much better spirits now and eyeing up a return to Hollywood with the full support of husband Danny Elfman.

“She’s feeling really energized again. She’s lost a lot of weight and really turned her health around,” a source tells Closer. “Her son [Oliver] is an adult now, [so] she has time to devote to herself and her own interests again and her heart has been drawn back to acting.”

Fonda, 62, is famous for her roles in Single White Female and Lake Placid, and comes from a long line of legendary Hollywood film stars, including dad Peter Fonda, aunt Jane Fonda and grandfather Henry Fonda.

“She’s got incredible talent so it’s not going to be hard for her to get cast. It’s a matter of her finding the right project,” says the source. “The fact that she’s open to it has shocked a lot of people because it really seemed like she was done for good.”

As Closer previously reported, Fonda left Hollywood in 2003 following a scary car accident that left her with fractured vertebrae — and never looked back.

“She just wanted peace and privacy, but she’s really come out of her shell again recently,” says the source, adding that composer Elfman, 72, is all for a comeback. “He always says how great she is. He’s her biggest cheerleader. Even after all these years together, he still thinks she hangs the moon.”
