Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are happily married — but in their new movie, By the Sea, the A-listers play a troubled couple who engage in some pretty intense fight scenes.
"I'd be directing myself and him in a scene where we're having a fight, and I'd be pulling out the parts [of him] that have an aggression toward me or when you're frustrated with each other — it was very heavy," Angelina, 40, said of shooting the flick in a new interview with the Director's Guild of America.

"We kept joking that all of the crew felt like they were living in a house where the parents were fighting and you don't know where to stand or where to look," she continued of making the film, which is set to hit theaters in November.
In the upcoming movie, Brad, 51, and Angelina — who married in August 2014 and are parents to six children — play a "deeply unhappy" couple who are vacationing in France. The duo then become involved with a newlywed couple who are also staying at the same seaside inn.

"We're proud of ourselves for being brave enough to try it," Angelina added of working with her husband. "I think By the Sea was the hardest film for me because it wasn't [issue-driven]. It's something I probably won't do very much of."
