Blue Bloods fans have been blown away by Vanessa Ray’s performance on the show as Eddie Janko-Reagan throughout season 14. With the December 13 series finale just one day away, it will be interesting to see how Eddie’s story ends with husband Jamie Reagan.

“Eddie was always one of my favorite characters to write for, because Vanessa Ray is such a great actress and so fun to work with on set,” Blue Bloods writer Jack Ciapciak told Us Weekly in an interview on Tuesday, December 10. “It’s been so amazing over the years to kind of watch Eddie find her place in the Reagan family and settle in and start to stick up for herself.”

He hinted that the series finale will really highlight how far Eddie has come on the show as an NYPD officer and a part of the Reagan family.

“This episode is a great episode for Eddie,” he said. “Vanessa Ray rose to the occasion and gives an excellent performance.”

It was already revealed in photos shared by CBS ahead of the finale that Eddie will end up in the hospital at some point during the episode. Mayor Peter Chase will also end up in the hospital. They could have potentially been involved in the same incident. All of the Reagans will also be attending a funeral for someone during the series finale, with Eddie sitting in the front row.

Theories have been swirling as to who will get killed off the show, as pictures have provided fans with some major clues. We think it will be someone who is close to Eddie.

Considering this is a show that we have laughed and cried with, it’s likely that there will be a lot of sad and happy moments in the series finale. After all, the show has gained a massive fan base after 14 years on air. Some even think Eddie and Jamie will announce they are expecting a baby in the finale, as it has been an ongoing topic of conversation between the characters.

“I think fans are going to be really moved and I mean, they’re going to be sad and all of the things as we were shooting it, but I will say reading the scripts and getting to play them, it’s been a real honor,” Vanessa, 43, said of portraying the character in the show’s final season during a November 22 interview with TV Insider.

Regarding Eddie’s relationship with Jamie and how much it has developed over the seasons, Vanessa credited their “mad chemistry.”

“I think it’s fun to watch two characters with a lot of love and respect for one another but who don’t always see eye to eye,” she told the outlet. “It would be pretty boring if they always just got each other, they always agreed and they always saw things the same way. But I think that what has honestly has been interesting and challenging to play is neither one of them, once they got together, changed their position on anything.”

“She still thought of him as a boy scout and he still kind of thought of her as a maverick,” Vanessa continued. “And I think seeing them have to pick their battles a lot with one another and not always doing that perfectly. I hope the audience has appreciated seeing that sort of those real challenges that they face where it’s like they love each other and they respect each other so much, but it’s not always easy.”
