Love was truly in the air on the Blue Bloods set! Donnie Wahlberg revealed that two background actors fell in love on the set of the hit CBS show, with a love story that will warm your heart.

“We have a couple that met in the background filming, and now they’re engaged and they’re going to get married,” Donnie, 55, said during the November 29 special, Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy. “That’s how many amazing relationships have been formed in all of the years in the squad room.”

The camera panned to two actors dressed in police uniforms as they stood in the show’s squad room. They smiled and cheered when Donnie mentioned their engagement to the cameras.

Donnie also gushed over his own marriage to wife Jenny McCarthy, whom he married in 2014, four years after the show began airing on CBS. Needless to say, the show has held a special place in the actor’s heart since the very beginning.

“I mean, I met my wife doing a talk show promoting Blue Bloods,” Donnie reflected. “We started dating while I was doing Blue Bloods. So much life has been lived. You get me mushy. You’re trying to get me emotional.”

The New Kids on the Block singer and the Masked Singer judge celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in August. They renewed their wedding vows to mark the occasion.

“Walking into our next ten years like! Happy 10th Anniversary Baby! So excited to share the rest of forever with you! One decade down, eternity to go!” Donnie captioned a video with Jenny, 53, on Instagram.

The special gave loyal fans of the police procedural drama an inside look at the series like never before. In addition to the happy engagement news, several other secrets were revealed about the show, including the fact that Tom Selleck helped propel the show in the right direction during season 1.

Tom, 79, explained why he was not happy with the plot of the second episode of the series and why he decided to take action.

“Suddenly, there was a difference in the tone, and some new people had been brought in and the show was more procedural. I kind of met with the other actors and said, ‘Look, you can stay out of this. I’m going to have to have broad enough shoulders for this. But if you agree with me that you like the pilot and not the way the show was beginning, then I’m going to see what I can do,’” the CBS veteran shared.

“I called some people at the network. I called my agent and said, ‘This isn’t going to work.’ We were on episode 2, and I said, ‘Look, I don’t think I belong on this show if that’s what they’re going to do.’ But that was done in not in a threatening way but in a business-like way and it worked out pretty good,” Tom said.

It was a gesture that Tom’s Blue Bloods costars appreciated, and were happy that he was able to steer the program on the right path.

“What we all gravitated towards was the connection between the family and that connection had to be protected … he used his experience and his influence to ensure that we could protect that integrity of the show that we all signed up for,” Donnie said while praising Tom.
