NBC has announced the network is developing a remake of the popular 1964 comedy Bewitched — just in time for the show's 50th anniversary!

The new series will reportedly follow Samantha's granddaughter Daphne, a single twenty-something who has magical powers just like the other women in her family.

The original — which starred Elizabeth Montgomery (as lead-character Samantha) and Dick York (as the beloved witch's mortal husband) — aired on ABC from 1964-1972 and was a major ratings hit. It has since been heralded as one of TV Guide's '50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.'

In 1977, ABC attempted to create a Bewitched revival centered on Samantha's daughter Tabitha, but the show was cancelled after just one season due to poor ratings. The original series was also adapted for the big screen in a 2005 remake starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.
