It seems Barron Trump is moving on up to sixth grade — near the White House!
His mother, First Lady Melania Trump, announced on Monday, May 15 that her and President Donald Trump’s 11-year-old son will be attending a private school in Maryland beginning this fall.

“We are very excited for our son to attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence. The mission of St. Andrew’s is ‘to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,’ all of which appealed to our family,” she said in a statement to People. “We look forward to the coming school years at St. Andrew’s.”
Washington Post reports Donald and Melania planned to wait until summer for the big announcement to avoid any protests or commotion near the school, but the students’ parents started hearing rumors and became worried about safety, so the school sent out a letter to let them know Barron would soon be attending.
The fifth grader and his mom made headlines in January when they stayed back in NYC when Donald moved to the White House. Barron is finishing up the year at his Upper West Side private school, and then the two will relocate to Washington DC with Donald this summer. The boy recently took his entire class on a field trip to visit the POTUS and the White House, so we’re sure he’ll be missed by his classmates.
And it’s no surprise that Donald broke the rules with this education decision for his son. This is the first time in decades a US President isn’t sending their child to Sidwell Friends, a private Quaker school located in both Washington DC and Bethesda, Maryland.
