The former President has a soft side! President Barack Obama opened up in a new interview about what it was like dropping his 19-year-old daughter, Malia, off at Harvard University for her first semester of freshman year back in August — and fans were shocked by his emotional confession. Watch the video below to find out what he said!
This is hardly the first time the 56-year-old opened up about the emotional journey that is sending your child to college. Before Malia left, he revealed in an interview, "It makes no sense. [My wife] Michelle [Obama] and I are way too young to have daughters who are both almost in college now. So as a parent, [I'm] a little freaked out." Malia took a gap year before making her way into the university — which is something Harvard allegedly encourages their students to do.
We know Malia had a semi-rough adjustment to life on campus thanks to her celebrity status. Back in August, TMZ reported that while walking with a friend, a woman asked to take her picture at a salad shop, and after she said no the woman waited for her outside. "Are you gonna take it in my face like an animal in a cage?" she allegedly asked. Hopefully, things have changed by this point!

Both President Barack and Michelle Obama also attended the prestigious institution, and we can't help but wonder if the couple's 16-year-old daughter, Sasha, will be next! We know that his daughters mean the world to him and he wants them to succeed, and recently shared the three pieces of advice he shared with the teenagers. The first was, "Being responsible is an enormous privilege." He followed up with, "There are a lot of different ways to make a contribution." Finally, he shared, "You have to be persistent."
