Angelina Jolie on Motherhood: “It’s Strange, I Never Wanted to Have a Baby”

Though she’s now a parent-of-six, Angelina Jolie has surprisingly revealed she “never thought of herself as a mother” in the past!

“It’s strange, I never wanted to have a baby. I never wanted to be pregnant. I never babysat. I never thought of myself as a mother,” the 40-year-old actress confessed in a new interview with the Associated Press via CTV News.

It wasn’t until Angelina — who married her longtime love Brad Pitt in August 2014 — visited children at a Cambodian school during one of her first trips as a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador that she realized she would enjoy being a mom.

“It was suddenly very clear to me that my son was in the country, somewhere,” she said of the experience. In 2002, Angelina adopted her eldest child, Maddox, 14, from Cambodia. She and Brad, 51, are also parents to Pax, 12, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 9, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 7.
