Anderson Cooper Reveals the Sweet Meaning Behind Son Wyatt’s Name: ‘I Am Beyond Happy’
Congratulations! Anderson Cooper is now a proud dad of one. His son, Wyatt Morgan Cooper, was born on Monday, April 27, via surrogate, and his dad gave him the coolest name ever. According to the journalist, he decided on the name “Wyatt” because it pays homage to his father, who died when Anderson was 10 years old.
“I hope I can be as good a dad as he was,” the TV personality said via Instagram on Thursday, April 30. As for Wyatt’s middle name, Anderson, 52, revealed “Morgan” was the best choice because “it’s a family name” on his mother’s side.
“I know my mom and dad liked the name Morgan because I recently found a list they made 52 years ago when they were trying to think of names for me,” he explained, and as we all know, Cooper is the anchor’s last name.
“My son,” the CNN star gushed when he announced Wyatt’s arrival on Instagram. “He was 7.2 [pounds] at birth, and he is sweet, and soft, and healthy and I am beyond happy.” The doting dad shared a couple of pics of him holding his kid. There was even one snap of his new baby boy smiling at the camera.
Becoming a father has been a great achievement for the silver-haired hunk. “As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child, and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way, and for the doctors and nurses and everyone involved in my son’s birth,” Anderson said. “I do wish my mom and dad and my brother, Carter, were alive to meet Wyatt, but I like to believe they can see him.”
He continued, “I imagine them all together, arms around each other, smiling and laughing, happy to know that their love is alive in me and in Wyatt, and that our family continues.”
