What a show! Ozzy Osbourne blew fans away when he took the stage at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday, November 24. The iconic crooner — who marked his first performance since he underwent surgery exactly one year ago — absolutely killed it as he performed alongside Post Malone and Travis Scott.
The 70-year-old rock superstar appeared to be over the moon as he performed the artists’ hit song “Take What You Want” on the AMAs stage. Although Ozzy is returning to the limelight after a health scare, the Black Sabbath frontman proved why he’s considered one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most iconic singers.
During the performance, Ozzy was seated at the back of the stage while Post, 24, and Travis, 28, sang in front of him. During the song, he would stand up to belt out the chorus while the audience — including wife Sharon Osbourne and daughter Kelly Osbourne — cheered the trio on and danced in their seats.
Earlier in the night, Ozzy and Sharon, 67, skipped the red carpet arrivals. Luckily, their daughter Kelly, 35, stepped in and walked the red carpet. While chatting with hosts about her famous father’s highly anticipated performance, she explained why the collaboration took six months. “Dad had the accident and had to have surgery,” Kelly shared. “He fractured the spine in his neck.”
As fans of the “Crazy Train” singer know, Ozzy has recently suffered from a slew of health issues — including the serious neck operation, pneumonia and surgery for an infection in his hand. Despite the rough few months of ill health, Ozzy came to shine at the award show and his performance was better than ever!
Prior to the annual awards show, Sharon, 67, opened up about the exciting news of her hubby’s performance. During an episode of her CBS show The Talk, the 67-year-old former music executive — who tied the knot with Ozzy in 1982 — said she couldn’t wait to see her husband kill it at the AMAs.
Considering this marks Ozzy’s first performance in a year, Sharon’s cohosts couldn’t help but be blown away by the all-star lineup. “You know that you are rock ‘n’ roll royalty and also, you’ve been in it too long to be like, it’s no biggie. That’s huge!” Eve, 41, gushed. “This new generation respects the music and respects Ozzy, that’s why I love it. I think it’s huge.”
We can’t get over how incredible Ozzy’s performance was!
