Goodbye Sami Brady, it was nice knowing you!

After 21 years on the hit NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” Alison Sweeney is calling it quits at the end of this season.

“I’m celebrating my 21st year … and I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show,” she announced on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Tuesday.

“I have worked so much, and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them.”

After the announcement, Alison received an outpouring of support on Twitter, prompting her to tweet her gratitude.

“Thanks 4 the tweets! You all rock! XO” the star wrote on her account.

The blonde beauty made her debut on the soap opera when she was just 16 and reveals she’s never taken more than a two-week vacation since joining “Days” in January of 1993.

The busy actress also began hosting the reality weight-loss competition, “The Biggest Loser,” in 2007, which made juggling family and work even harder.

“For seven years I’ve done both shows,” she explained. “I’m really just excited to be with my kids and be with my husband and, I don’t know, have fun.

“And I write,” the 37-year-old added. “My second book’s coming out. I love directing and just, you know, finding things to do.”

So what does Alison hope happens to her character as she gets ready to leave? “It would be awesome to have some kind of happy ending,” she says.

“But then, I also think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted, like “Breaking Bad” ending.”

We’ll just have to wait and see!
