Alison Arngrim Would Love to Return for ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Reboot: ‘I’m Totally There’
A new generation will have its own version of Little House on the Prairie with Netflix’s new TV adaptation of the beloved frontier drama. Like the original show, which ran from 1974-83 and was based on the bestselling books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the reboot will follow the Ingalls family through struggles, triumphs and everyday life on their Minnesota farm.
While no casting has been announced, Alison Arngrim — who played mean-girl Nellie Oleson in the ’70s series — says she’d be happy to return. “I’m just the right age to play Mrs. Oleson,” she quipped. “I’m totally there. I have no shame.”
As to why Little House is still so popular today, “We’ve all been asking ourselves this,” she told Closer. “I’ve had people tell me that the problems the Ingalls have are the problems of the world. They live in a tiny house with a bunch of kids and no money. It’s a show that generation after generation can identify with.”
