What an epic recycled outfit! At last night’s Emmys, Alex Borstein won big for portraying Susie Myerson on the hit Amazon show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. But before she accepted her Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy award, the 47-year-old actress revealed her silver Emmys gown is her wedding dress from her marriage to now ex-husband Jackson Douglas.

“This is actually my wedding dress. This was from 20 years ago,” Alex told Glamour magazine on the Emmys red carpet. “The marriage didn’t last but the dress did and I wanted to give it new life so now it’s my Emmys dress. That’s the truth.”

Alex was previously married to her Gilmore Girls co-star Jackson, 49, for 15 years from 1999 until 2014. The former couple are parents to two kids, Barnaby Borstein Douglas, 10, and Henrietta Borstein Douglas, 5, together.

During a past interview with the Huffington Post, Alex candidly opened up about going through a divorce. “If you believe in romance and if you believe in marriage, you also have to believe in divorce. You can’t just want to go to weddings and children’s birthday parties. You’ve got to witness it all. We’re just here to witness and believe in both,” she said in 2015.

“You have to ride the highs and ride the lows. To know when you’ve done all you can in something and ridden it to the end is important, too. To know, which is hard,” Alex continued. “It’s hard to see that when you’re in it, but maybe that’s a good thing. You shouldn’t see it immediately because then you do the work, and you work really, really hard for as long as you can.”

When Alex took the stage at the 2018 Emmys to accept her Outstanding Supporting Actress award, she hilariously said, “I went without the bra,” which garnered a big laugh from the audience. Alex also took home the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance Emmy this year for playing Lois Griffin on Family Guy.
