Jennifer Lopez and fiancé Alex Rodriguez brought a whole new meaning to the term “blended family.” Not only do they show us it is possible for a single parent to find a mate when they already have kids from past marriages, but they also made us realize how important it is for your children to love your partner.
When they began dating in 2017, A-Rod and J.Lo wasted no time getting to know each other’s kids. As fans know, Alex is a proud father of two daughters — Natasha and Ella, both of whom he shares with Cynthia Scurtis. The baseball star and his ex-wife tied the knot in 2002 but divorced in 2008. Jennifer and ex-husband Marc Anthony are also parents to their twins, Max and Emme. The former couple was married from 2004 to 2014.
Despite their failed romances, Jen and Alex effortlessly mastered coparenting their kids while simultaneously raising one beautiful, blended family. The couple, who got engaged in March 2019, seemed extra excited to make their family official as they geared up to tie the knot, but their relationship took a turn for the worse after postponing their nuptials twice amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On March 12, 2021, multiple reports claimed that J. Lo and A-Rod split and called off their engagement. The following day, a rep for the Bronx native confirmed to Closer that they denied the breakup rumors.
“All the reports are inaccurate,” the couple told TMZ in a statement on March 13. “We are working through some things.” The outlet also noted that the pair’s relationship issues have “nothing to do with a third party.”
The split rumors came two months after the former baseball player was accused of having a fling with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy. The Bravo reality TV star, for her part, denied having an affair with Alex and claimed the only interaction they had was a video chat.
“They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together,” an insider told People about J. Lo and A-Rod’s relationship issues. “They hit a rough patch. But [they are] not broken up.”
