‘9-1-1 Lone Star’ Showrunner Teases Big Plot for T.K. and Carlos in Show’s Final 3 Episodes

Another great show is coming to an end, but 9-1-1 Lone Star coshowrunner Rashad Raisani said the show’s final episodes have some big surprises ahead.

In the fall finale, T.K. and Carlos prepared to become fathers, gearing up to adopt Jonah. With three episodes left of the series, Rashad teased how the story line will wrap up.

“We will do an episode where we deal with some of the unexpected turbulence that comes their way on that front,” he told TVLine in an interview earlier this month. “It leads to an ultimate decision for one of these guys. It’s a series-altering moment.”

The series will return with the first of its final episodes on January 20, with the series finale set to air on February 3. Viewers are certainly interested to see how T.K. and Carlos navigate fatherhood while both working high-pressure jobs.

During a December 17 interview with TV Insider, Rashad touched on the subject of how the pair were going to adjust to parenthood.

The interviewer said, “How much are we going to see T.K. and Carlos trying to balance being parents and balancing work? They have family, but at the same time, they are the primary caretakers now of this kid,” to which Rashad replied, “You’re putting your finger right on the end of the series is all I’ll tell you about that. That becomes a major issue, let’s put it that way.”

When asked if they would still have time to spend together as a couple, Rashad said, “They will, I’ll put it that way, but I won’t tell you how.”

9-1-1 Lone Star actor Rob Lowe also recently opened up about the series coming to an end and what’s to come.

“We all went into it pretty much knowing that it was going to be the last season, so that affected everything we did,” he told Variety in August. “We wanted to really show everybody what is still possible in network television if people have the appetite to do it. It feels like it’s probably the end of an era of a certain type — well, it doesn’t feel like it. It is the end of an era of a certain type of show we once had an opportunity to make, and I think they’re great.”

Luckily for fans, when 9-1-1 Lone Star ends, a spinoff will soon follow.

“Tim Minear and I are working on a new spinoff that we’re actually writing, and that we hope to get on the air next fall,” creator Ryan Murphy told Variety in October. “Sadly, we all love Lone Star, but the financials just didn’t work. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it.”

“So now we’re going to launch a new show in a new city that I can’t name, but it’s fun,” he continued. “And 9-1-1 moved to ABC and suddenly became, I think, the biggest show on Thursday night. They obviously have an appetite for that, so we’re going to give them another one that I really love.”

Shortly after the interview, Deadline reported that the creators were looking at Hawaii as the possible location for the spinoff series.
