She’s here, folks! Serena Williams stepped out at the 2019 Met Gala and she definitely came dressed to impress! The professional tennis player was one of the first Hollywood stars to hit the red carpet alongside husband Alexis Ohanian at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on Monday, May 6.

The 37-year-old — who is cohosting the annual Met Ball alongside fellow cochairs Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele — attended fashion’s biggest night of the year and smiled and posed for pictures on the famous red carpet with some arm candy.

Serena looked better than ever as she departed The Surrey hotel in New York City and hit the red carpet in an incredible bright yellow Versace gown ahead of the prestigious event. The ensemble completely took our breath away as it featured a tight corset top, large puffy sleeves and a stunning train. The unique dress was covered in gorgeous bright pink, red and purple designs that resembled butterflies, pulling the entire look together.

The Olympic champion also wore her hair tied behind her ears in a bun so she could show off her dangling diamond earrings. Underneath her gown, the beauty wore custom Nike sneakers. Although Serena had all eyes on her, Alexis, who is best known for cofounding Reddit, looked just as good as he sported a classic, sleek black and white tuxedo. What a stylish pair!

Fans of the highly anticipated event are expecting to see tons of Hollywood’s hottest stars wearing the most outrageous and creative ensembles thanks to this year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”

The Costume Institute chose the theme for the spring exhibition thanks to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes on Camp.” The year’s inspiration will allow the stars to tap into their inner fashionista while passing on the typical bland and predictable gowns. Translation: We’re looking for over-the-top looks.
