General Hospital fans have been witnessing a slow build toward romance between Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) all year and finally something is starting to happen. Dante and Elizabeth have been spending lots more time together, which Ric (Rick Hearst) has taken notice of. That means GH might have a brand-new full-fledged triangle on its hands, something that pleases Dominic Zamprogna.

Fighting Over Elizabeth

Despite working together for 17 years, Zamprogna and Rebecca Herbst never imagined their characters would be paired. In fact, they had written the idea off years ago.

“I know her and I had scenes, like, years ago, and we were both laughing because of how bad they were,” Zamprogna said on co-stars Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson‘s That’s Awesome podcast. “And she’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not gonna be paired up any time soon,’ because we both thought the scenes were just awkward. Anyway, to the point where we laughed immediately after they called cut and said, ‘Well, so much for that,’ or something like that.”

However, Dante has been single for a while now, ever since he lost Sam (Kelly Monaco) in 2024. Although Lulu (Alexa Havins) woke from her coma soon after Sam died, they didn’t resume their romance, which makes Dante a free agent. In fact, Zamprogna is glad that Lulu is not a part of this triangle, except to tell Ric to relax.

Ric and Elizabeth are together again after various break-ups, usually caused by Ric’s jealous streak. This time doesn’t look like an exception, as another Dante and Elizabeth sighting had Ric running to Lulu for advice. Zamprogna is glad Ric is part of this triangle because it puts Elizabeth in the middle, where he thinks she belongs.

“The triangle thing, I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth,” Zamprogna said, adding that there’s a lot more to come. “The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
