Drew’s Out-of-the-Blue Feud With Sonny Leaves ‘General Hospital’ Fans Scratching Their Heads

GH fans are baffled as Drew Cain targets Sonny Corinthos for revenge instead of Willow Tait, the person who actually tried to destroy his life.

After six months in a paralytic state, General Hospital‘s Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is back meaner than ever with a new vendetta that has fans confused. Despite his ex-wife Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) destroying his life and career, as well as literally shooting him in the back twice, Drew has decided that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) must be brought down, which is now his very perplexing singular goal.

GH’s Drew Plots Inexplicable Revenge

Recently, Drew explained to his lawyer, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight), why he was focused on Sonny. According to Drew, all of his other enemies are connected to Sonny, so if he cuts off Sonny’s power, he cuts down everyone.

In fact, Drew claimed all the months he sat in that wheelchair in a locked-in state, all he could think about was Sonny, a man who had never actually done anything to him. Even with an explanation, the reason still feels convoluted to fans, who still don’t feel Drew makes much sense. They also don’t like that Drew recruited Ava Jerome (Maura West) as his partner in crime.

“The question has been answered — with complete nonsense,” one fan pointed out on X. “Going after Sonny might bother Jason and Michael, but it would do absolutely nothing to the person Drew has a reason to want to hurt, Willow.”

ABC/Disney

“This is so stupid!” another fan concurred. “It will never make sense why Drew wouldn’t go after the TWO who tried to kill him, Willow and Nina!”

“Getting Sonny is not getting even with Willow,” another viewer noted. “She could care less about Sonny. It will hurt Michael & Jason the one he really wants. But neither of them tried to kill him 3 times.”

One fan does think they have it all figured out and believe the storyline isn’t Drew-focused, but instead, it is Sonny focused.

“Drew has been plenty of enemies he can squabble with,” they tweeted. “This Ava/Sonny mess isn’t for Drew, it’s to give Sonny something to do now that there is no more mob.

With Drew giving Ava a side mission to drug Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) so he could search his room for blackmail material, both Drew and Ava might soon find they have more problems on their hands than just Sonny.
