Williard Scott retired from Today after 35 years on the show and 65 years working for NBC on Tuesday, Dec. 15 — and the iconic weatherman will be sincerely missed!

The 81-year-old TV star and author — who is also well-known for creating and portraying McDonald’s personality Ronald McDonald — began his career at NBC in 1950 and has since spent more than 12,000 mornings entertaining his fans on the Plaza!

To pay tribute to their longtime co-worker and friend, Al Roker and his fellow Today co-anchors reminisced about Willard’s long and successful career during the show’s Tuesday, Dec. 15 episode. They even announced that Rockefeller Plaza had been named Willard Scott Way for the day!
