Calling all Aladdin fans — your favorite Disney cartoon is coming back to the big screen! The 1992 animated classic is being turned into a new live-action remake — and A-list actor Will Smith will play a very big part in the reboot, the Genie, Walt Disney Studios production president Sean Bailey confirmed on Saturday, July 15.

And Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, can’t wait to see him in the new role, which he’s been rumored to take on since April. “You know what, this is perfect for you because you’re always creating magic,” the 45-year-old gushed on the Tonight Show. Is that not the cutest thing you’ve ever heard in your life?

The upcoming reboot — which will be directed by Madonna’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie — is still in its early stages, so there is no release date yet. However, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott will play Aladdin and Jasmine, respectively. Prior to this big casting news, Will was said to be up for a role in Tim Burton’s live-action version of Dumbo earlier this year, but the plans fell through due to scheduling conflicts.

The beloved film once featured iconic actor Robin Williams as the voice of Aladdin, and it even won the Academy Award for Best Original Music Score in 1993 for a “Whole New World” and was also nominated for Best Mixing and Best Editing that same year.

Twenty-five years after the first film, the remake’s producer, Dan Lin, says, “When I came in to make the movie, I wanted to make a diverse version of the movie.” he told Collider. “We want to make a movie that’s authentic to that world.” We can hardly wait to see Will and the rest of the gang in action, literally!
