The Grammys is known for its over-the-top performances that often feature surprise appearances, crazy costumes, and some serious dance moves!

But a particular performance this year managed to bring one of country’s biggest stars to tears, and this celebrity is not known to get emotional!

Keith Urban shares with us why he cried during music’s biggest night. “Yeah, the ‘Same Love’…it was extraordinary,” Urban says of rapper Macklemore & DJ Ryan Lewis’ performance alongside Madonna and Mary Lambert.

During the song, which addresses gay and lesbian rights, 33 couples married in the aisles during a mini-ceremony officiated by none other than Queen Latifah.

Some of the couples were same-sex, some were not, but it was a moving moment for many in the audience.

“I mean, when you see something so real like that, that’s what hit me and also the proximity too,” shares Urban of his front-row seat.

“Sarah Bareilles was right behind me balling like a baby as well because we were standing right there next to them. I mean we were inches away.”

The country crooner says he didn’t know the couples were real at first, believing them to be a group of actors. But once he realized the group was made up of regular people, he processed what was happening around him.

“It was a good moment and then it slowly dawned on me that these were real couples that were really getting married, this was really happening!” says the 46-year-old.

“Then when Queen Latifah announced them officially as a couple, it was just beautiful. It was like being in any wedding,” the happily married singer shares.
