"Weird Al" Yankovic has the number one album in the country, and fans want the NFL to take notice!

A petition has been launched on the website Change.org in the hopes the 54-year-old parodist will be chosen to perform at this year's Super Bowl halftime show.

"Think about the Super Bowls of past years, when you had no vested interest in either team, especially during a game that was a blowout or boring," fan Ed Ball, who started the petition while drunk, wrote on the site.

"What did you remember the most? I’m betting it was typically the humorous commercials, or some kick a** halftime performance. Why not combine the two?"

Ed's confident the singer would not disappoint! "I do not want to sit through another Black Eyed Peas disaster or see Nicki Minaj verbal vomit some lyrics that I cannot understand. And do you want Miley Cyrus?!? Because this is how you will end up with Miley Cyrus!!!" he writes.

So far, the petition is 500 signatures shy of its 75,000 signature goal. Though Weird Al has not commented on this most recent movement, he did confess he'd love to perform at the big game back in 2012.

"I'd be surprised if that's being seriously considered by the NFL…But prove me wrong!" he's quoted as saying.
