My life before my weight loss was difficult. I was so out of shape that climbing stairs was hard. I would stand in my closet crying every morning because none of my clothes fit. I dreaded going shopping because I knew I went up another size. My life was miserable.

The event that triggered the start of my weight loss was the fact that I was turning 50 in October of 2012. This was February 2012. My mother died of Ovarian cancer at age 50. She was always overweight and the doctor tried to get her to exercise and eat healthy. She never did. I was determined not to follow in her footsteps. I was only eight months from that age, but I had a lot more living to do.
I saw the Nutrisystem commercial on TV with Marie Osmond. It sounded like the program that would fit my busy lifestyle. I am a bank manager and have a husband and two teenage boys. I read the entire book, set up my pantry and got my journal started. I had instant success. I averaged a two-pound loss weekly and hit my goal in 13 months. Once I started the program, I never looked back.

It is never too late. I started my program at age 50 and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I would have avoided all those years of unhealthy living. However, my new life now at age 52 has just begun and it's a blast.
