I've always been overweight as a child, pre-teen and adult. After becoming a single mom following my divorce, I started eating fast food and constantly snacked on what was left on my kids’ plates. I didn’t have time to even think about exercise. I missed out on playing with my children and partaking in their activities because I was always sitting on the sidelines. I was miserable and felt hopeless. I was a thin, fun person stuck inside my larger body.

My turning point came after my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure and edema and warned me I was pre-diabetic. I had tried diet fads to lose weight in the past and would always lose five pounds, but then gain it right back. One day, I saw Marie Osmond on a Nutrisystem commercial and thought if she could lose 50 pounds in her 50s, why couldn't I? That moment, I called and ordered the program — I was ready to change my lifestyle and my health for good.

The program has taught me portion control and how to consume the right types of foods. Now I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and have so much energy! After being a couch potato for more than 20 years, I started walking — first just around the block — until I gained enough stamina to start jogging. Now — nearly three years after I started my weight loss journey — I enjoy swimming, using the elliptical, biking, weightlifting and running. If I can do it, then anyone can change their life, body and most importantly, their mind-set.
I feel wonderful — nothing can stop me now! I used to hate the thought of exercising and now I’m active every day. I am full of life, happy, content and can look in the mirror and like who looks back. I am now a healthy woman who is a role model to my children and grandchildren. My dream of being a healthy, shapely woman is now a reality.
