Valerie Harper continues to take advantage of her new lease on life after battling brain cancer last year.
The 74-year-old has signed on to guest-star in the first two episodes of a new Hallmark Channel Original Series called “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” set to premiere this spring.
Valerie, who is best known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and on the spin-off series “Rhoda,” will play supervisor to a group of postal detectives who solve the mysteries behind undeliverable letters and packages.
According to a press release from the network, during Valerie’s two-episode arc as supervisor, “she'll inspire each of [the detectives] to fulfill their unique purposes, as she courageously embraces her own.”
“Valerie’s characteristic joy and inimitable humor will lend so much to the series and we are delighted to welcome her aboard to help us kick off this journey,” said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming for Crown Media Family Networks.
Series creator Martha Williamson, best known for her mega-hit “Touched By An Angel” on which Valerie guest-starred, is also thrilled to welcome the Emmy winner back to scripted television.
"Valerie is a brilliant comedic actress and one of the most generous human beings I know," Martha said.
"You'll see her contagious joie de vivre reflected in this tailor made part I was privileged to write for her."
The series also stars Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), Kristin Booth (The Kennedys), Crystal Lowe (Smallville), and Geoff Gustafson (Primeval: New World).
Valerie was last seen as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" this past fall.
