Actress Kelly McGillis grew famous in the 80's for her roles in Top Gun and Witness, but 28 years later she tells Closer Weekly she's no longer "the typical Hollywood type" and she isn't afraid of aging naturally.
“I’ve lived most of my life out in the sun and I have a lot of wrinkles," the 56-year-old star shares with Closer. "And I don’t want to be stuck perpetually trying to be 30."
In fact, Kelly, who now stars in the decidedly unglamorous but rewarding role of an Amish woman running a boarding house in UP network’s Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, says she’s grateful about getting older. “I’m proud of my wrinkles. I feel like I’ve earned every one!”
But Kelly bluntly tells Closer why she's found it difficult to land acting roles. “No one’s knocking at my door," she says. "First, I don’t want to color my hair. Secondly, I enjoy cooking and eating, so I don’t want to be super skinny,” also adding that she wouldn’t consider plastic surgery either.
“Personally, I’ve seen so much bad plastic surgery where it’s gone terribly wrong that I don’t want to take the chance.”
And though she admits, “I did do Botox for a while,” she knew it wasn’t for her after she was in a play and couldn’t communicate her character’s emotions.

“It was terribly frustrating trying to communicate an emotion to 3,000 people when your face doesn’t move. I thought, this is crazy! My job is to communicate emotion. If my face can’t do that, I’m kind of screwed.”
