She’s back and better than ever! Tina Turner, 78, made her first red carpet appearance in five years on Tuesday, April 17 to attend the opening of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical in London. The production is based on the beloved rock and roll artist’s life, starting from her humble beginnings and documenting her rise to great success. Accompanied by her husband of nearly five years, Erwin Bach, Tina rocked a black pantsuit and silver shoes on the red carpet. The “What’s Love Got to Do With It” singer looked stunning and youthful. Tina was heavily involved in the production of the musical, and has documented her set visits on her social media accounts. The day of the premiere, the proud star took to Instagram to share a cast photo and a special message. “After three years of hard work from our fantastic cast and crew, @tinathemusical makes its World Premiere Performance at The @aldwychtheatre tonight,” she wrote in her caption. “It has meant so much to me to be so closely involved in this production. To all my fans and audiences coming to see us, I really hope you enjoy the show! Love, Tina x.”

After watching in the audience, the 12-time Grammy Award winner explained to BBC News, “It’s difficult to see someone else do what we did for 40 years. I’m a perfectionist, so I look a little bit critically. But when I look and see it done so well, I feel proud.”

Previously, in an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Tina’s longtime friend and executive personal assistant, Rhonda Graam, revealed how the legendary songstress is doing in retirement. “She’s loving her life right now, married and living on a lake [in Switzerland],” Rhonda, who has worked with Tina since 1964, explained to Closer.

And while she is confident that Tina could pull off a career comeback, she insists that it will never happen. “Tina’s happy, and she earned it,” she said. “She’s very down-to-earth. It’s not like fame ever went to her head. Tina [may] come across onstage as raunchy and sexy [but] she’s not [like] that at all. She’s very respectful and classy.”
