Tim McGraw was hoping for a few fun interactions with fans at an Atlanta show last weekend, but one woman got a little too close for comfort when he waded into the audience.
While performing his song, "Truck Yeah," on July 13, the country singer instinctively slaps a female fan after she reached up, grabbed onto his leg and seemingly wouldn't let go, a video taken in the crowd shows.
As security rushed in to take the woman away, Tim was visibly upset, making a 'What the heck' gesture with his hands.
A rep for the 47-year-old told HuffPost in a statement, "I think the videos are pretty explanatory in showing Tim was just trying to protect himself."
The spokesperson also clarified, "At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn't let go as he was moving through the crowd."
The rep added, "He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show. He didn't know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his pants from being torn."
Despite the unfortunate ending, Tim appears to have enjoyed the night overall, posting the following message and picture on Twitter:
