As a father of three daughters, it's no wonder Tim McGraw is a little protective of his teenage girls dating.
During a new interview, the country superstar, 47 — who is dad to Gracie, 17, Maggie, 16, and Audrey, 13 — revealed he once met one of his daughter's suitors with a butcher knife in-hand!

“I happened to be cutting some meat up because I was cooking on the grill and I had a white apron on, so I had little chunks of meat on this white apron,” he told 'Extra.' “I had a butcher knife when I answered the door and it wasn’t on purpose, but it worked out well.”

In another recent sit-down with Rachael Ray, the 'Live Like You Were Dying' star said he's "not too tough" when it comes to allowing his daughters to date. "I want it to be visceral... I'm not that tough. I try to act like I am, but I just want them to be happy."
And how does wife Faith Hill — whom Tim married in October 1996 — treat the guys? "She's pretty sweet actually... they love her. They like her better than they do me, of course," he said during an appearance on the 'Rachael Ray Show,' airing Friday, May 1.
