Though it’s been 20 years since John Candy tragically passed away at age 43 of a heart attack, the beloved actor and comedian continues to be publicly remembered by his loving family.

In an emotional new interview, John’s son, actor Chris Candy, 30, shares memories of his late father and opens up about the star’s lasting legacy on Hollywood.

“With him being gone 20 years now, you feel like he’s within you a little bit,” Chris told ‘ET Canada’ on Nov. 24. “He was just an amazing actor. There was only one John Candy, and he was it.”

“My dad’s ability as an actor was that he was very funny, and he had a lot of heart behind all of his work, and he loved to do it,” he continued. “I feel like that has definitely come across in my work.”
