Prince George has a new playmate!
Six months after her cousin William welcomed his first child, Zara Tindall, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and daughter of Princess Anne, gave birth to a baby girl on Friday, Buckingham Palace announced.
The baby, who weighs 7 lbs., 12 oz., becomes 16th in line to the throne, directly behind her mother.
Zara's husband, English rugby player Mike Tindall, was at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for the birth where he tweeted his thanks to hospital staff.
"Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy.! The girls are both doing great!" he wrote on Twitter.
The palace issued a statement announcing the family's excitement:
"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr. Phillip and Mrs. Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby's name will be confirmed in due course."
This is the third grandchild for Princess Anne, who is the Queen's second eldest child. Zara's brother, Peter, already has two young children with his wife.
The new mom has reportedly left the hospital already and is headed to an undisclosed location.
Before giving birth a few months ago, Zara was named one of Prince George's six godparents. She is said to be very close to her cousins William and Harry.
