Terri Irwin and Steve Irwin Wanted to Have Another Kid Before He Died

This is heartbreaking.

Terri Irwin wanted to become a mom again prior to her late husband Steve Irwin‘s untimely death in 2006. In a new interview, she revealed the couple was considering more kids before his passing.

“I said to Steve, ‘Let’s have a third.’ And he said, ‘You have a girl and you have a boy. What are you hoping for?'” Terri told E News. The duo — who married in 1992 — are parents to a daughter Bindi, now 18, and a son Robert, now 13.

“Steve said to me how excited he was when Bindi was born. He said, ‘Do you think we could have a boy?’ And then Robert was born, and they’re perfect. They’re easy kids; they’re wonderful to me; they’re such a help,” Terri added.

When asked for her parenting tips, Terri shared, “I think the secret is love at first sight. Some people don’t believe in it, and then you have a baby and fall in love with this person the way you never knew you could love somebody.”

Rumors recently swirled that Terri is dating famed actor Russell Crowe nearly 11 years after Steve’s death. She addressed the talk earlier this month.

“He is very lucky to be embroiled in all of these great rumors. We are friends, so he did contact me and ask me if there was something I should let him know,” she joked. “In all honesty, he and Steve became friends many years ago, and after Steve passed, you find out who your true friends are. And Russell has been very loyal as a great friend.”

Terri additionally revealed she hasn’t dated anyone since she lost Steve. “Just because I feel a connection still with Steve,” she explained. “I really don’t think I would have married if I hadn’t met Steve. And he’s very special to me and continues to be. And I’ve got beautiful kids and a lot of wonderful conservation work. So I’m lonely for Steve, but I’m not a lonely person.”
