Flip or Flop — which premiered on HGTV in April 2013 — follows Tarek, 35, and Christina, 33, as they flip houses in Orange County, CA. While Tarek works to find and renovate homes, Christina acts as a designer on the projects.

The pair previously tied the knot in 2009 and are parents to two children, daughter Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 16 months. They announced their separation after seven years of marriage in December 2016.

“[We] will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together,” Tarek and Christina said in a joint statement at the time of their split.

It was further revealed that the duo actually separated in May 2016 — seven months before their divorce went public — following a scary domestic incident in their California home where police responded to “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun.”

Eyewitnesses reportedly told authorities Tarek fled the scene with a firearm while Christina ran from their house crying and shaking. The former couple simply referred to the event as an “unfortunate misunderstanding” in their split announcement.

“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed,” they said.

Since their breakup, Tarek and Christina have been living separately and have reportedly both been dating other people for months.
