They’re best buds! Sylvester Stallone took to Instagram this morning to share a kind birthday message to his good friend Arnold Schwarzenegger. The action hero, professional body builder, and former governor of California turns 70 years old today.

“Pre – HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARNOLD!!!!” Sylvestor captioned the side-by-side photo. “As long as you live and beyond, you’re always going to be the ‘BIG MAN’ who set the bar so high that it will never be surpassed, an action hero legend! (sic)”

The action stars met in 1977 at the Golden Globes when they were assigned to sit at the same table. That night, Stallone took home an award for Rocky and Schwarzenegger for Pumping Iron, and a friendship (and healthy rivalry!) was formed.

“I said, ‘Who is this guy? He’s like, as big as the whole table,'” Stallone recalled of the night he met The Terminator star during a panel discussion at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. “He kind of rained on my parade. Rocky was [up for] best newcomer and best picture, and he keeps staring at me, getting bigger and bigger.”
