Though she will soon be a princess, Sofia Hellqvist's engagement ring from her fiancé, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, is quite the modest royal bling!
As the world await's the couple's upcoming lavish wedding on Saturday, June 13, royal experts have taken a closer look at Sofia's "unusual" ring — and have estimated the diamond is actually less than one carat in size.
“The ring has fine proportions and fits in well with the charity work she does in South Africa. Here it is important that the stone isn’t too large,” jewelry expert Johanna Pietsch told Royalista of the 0.8 carat bauble.

Pietsch added the 30-year-old's double-diamond band ring — featuring a round center diamond surrounded by a halo of smaller stones — is likely worth $16,500.

On Sunday, May 17, Prince Carl Philip, 36 — the only son of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and third in line to the throne — and his bride-to-be participated in a traditional reading of the banns of marriage at Stockholm's Royal Chapel.

This ceremony marked the couple's official announcement that they intend to marry on a later date. Following their June nuptials, the former model and reality TV star will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia.
Carl Philip and Sofia previously publicized their upcoming wedding date last October after announcing their engagement in June 2014.
