Sweden's royal family is about to get a little bigger!
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are expecting their first baby, due in April 2016, the Swedish Royal Court announced on Thursday, Oct. 15.

"We are so happy and excited to announce that we are expecting our first child. We are very much looking forward to it," the couple said of Sofia's pregnancy in an official statement.

The newborn baby will be the fifth in line to succession to the Swedish throne. Carl Philip's older sister, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, 38 — who is also expecting — is currently the heir apparent and will ascend to the throne when her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, 69, either passes away or abdicates his title.
