It’s tough being a teen! Susan Sarandon recently opened up about her “dorky” high school years living in Edison, N.J., which she claims weren’t easy.

“I was very awkward,” the Oscar winner admits. “Not cool at all.”

While attending her first high school reunion years later, Susan even asked a former classmate why no one would ask her out. He told her, “‘Well everyone knew you weren’t going to put out.’ And they were right…I was pretty shy,” she remembers.

The 67-year-old shares she wishes there had been a film like her cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show for nerdy kids to bond over.

“Too bad [it] wasn’t around until later because I probably could have found like-minded souls there,” Susan says. “I don’t know if anything existed that would have helped me through but I’m glad I could provide help.”

Looking back at her somewhat lonely childhood, the actress jokes, “It’s a miracle I survived without being too messed up.”

Now, the soon-to-be-grandmother couldn’t be happier, or more open! She revealed last December on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live that she likes to smoke weed ahead of award shows!

But Susan claims her comments were blown way out of proportion. “That whole thing of going stoned to every awards show, I wish that could have been possible,” she teases. “But no, that was an exaggeration.”

Though there is a negative effect to being high at that sort of event. “The only down side I can think of with weed is the munchies,” Susan shares with People magazine. “Award shows are four hours long. So by the time you even get through the red carpet, unfortunately, you’re not high anymore.”
