Who’s getting married this time?!

Steve Martin is set to return for a third installment in the Father of the Bride franchise, which has seen character George Banks come to terms with his daughter’s impending marriage and suffer a midlife crisis in the sequel when he discovers both his daughter and wife are pregnant.

It’s been 23 years since the first film, so what does the plot have in store for us this time? Apparently son Matty (played by Kieran Culkin in the first two films) is getting married…to a man!

According to longtime Hollywood journalist and former Deadline Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke, the plot will follow George’s struggle to accept Matty’s sexuality and marriage to the son of a U.S. Navy Seal.

Conservative George’s attitude will anger wife Nina (played by Diane Keaton), who quickly kicks him out of the house.

There’s been no word yet on whether other cast members, including Kieran, Diane and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (who played daughter Annie in the first two films) will return for the third, though we desperately hope eccentric wedding planner Franck (portrayed by the hilarious Martin Short) will once again be coordinating the big day!

While Nancy Meyers, who directed the first two films, will not be involved with this project, scriptwriter Charles Shyer will return to both write and direct. A possible release date has not been stated.

Will you watch Father of the Bride Part III? Who in the cast would you like to see return?
