Get well soon, Shakira. The music sensation announced on Wednesday, Dec. 27 that she is postponing her El Dorado Would Tour even further due to her vocal hemorrhage — to June 2018.

“To my dear fans and friends, I wanted to write one more letter to express my gratitude to all of you for the immeasurable love and support that you have sent me these past few weeks,” she wrote to her fans on Instagram. “You have made me feel that my voice is not only mine but also yours, and that it has a purpose. There were times when your prayers and messages of affection and encouragement along with those of my family were the only thing buoying my spirits.”

“Though I very much hoped to be able to recover my vocal cords in time to pick the tour back up in January, and after exploring many options to that effect, I have accepted that this is an injury that simply needs more time and care to heal. I feel for all of you who planned ahead to come to these shows and who have been so patient as I took the time needed to figure out the best course of action with my doctors,” Shakira continued. “Thankfully, I am so relieved and happy to share with you that I will be getting back on the road in June 2018 with my El Dorado World Tour in Europe, and the US, with Latin America dates to be announced soon.”

“I am very proud of this show; I feel it’s my best yet since it has a repertoire filled with heartfelt songs and exciting moments of music and dance,” she concluded. “I really can’t wait for June! I promise to give you all of me and more from the minute I get on that stage and I am counting the days till showtime!”

She originally announced that she’d be postponing her tour on Nov. 14. “To my friends and fans. For the last five months, I’ve been wholly dedicated to preparing my El Dorado World Tour. However, these past few days, just before my first concerts, have been the hardest of my career,” Shakira wrote in her statement on Instagram at the time. “At the end of July I went for a routine checkup, before starting to design this tour and my doctor confirmed that my vocal cords were in perfect condition.”

She continued, “Towards the end of October though, in the home stretch of my rehearsals, I felt a strange hoarseness that impeded my singing. The doctors, upon examination, detected that I had suffered a hemorrhage on my right vocal cord. I then went on vocal rest as recommended by the specialists in an attempt to recover in time for my first show in Cologne.”

“Unfortunately, the hemorrhage doesn’t appear to have reabsorbed and my nightmare continues. At the moment I find myself in a difficult battle as I try to fully recover,” the mom-of-two added. “It pains me not to be able to sing this month, for those have done even the impossible to get tickets and accompany me throughout the different countries of Europe.”

“For my team of 60 plus people who have worked day and night until the last day to help me put together the best show of my artistic career, and who, like myself, are anxious to begin this tour. For my kids who were excited to see their mom in concert as soon as possible. And above all, of my fans, who have always been by my side through the good and the bad, and who deserve the best of me.”

“In all the years I’ve been singing, I’ve never been faced with a situation like this. As such, and with a heavy heart, I must announce that I find myself obliged to postpone my European tour until 2018, to allow my body several necessary weeks, dedicated to my complete recovery,” she continued. “Thanks to my fans throughout the world for their understanding and loyalty, for all the encouraging messages and affection they’ve transmitted to me, and for their prayers.”

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer concluded, “I hope to overcome this difficult trial and to return to the stage as soon as possible, to once again hear your voices singing along with mine. I love all of you very much and I will always remember those who have been by my side during this time, offering their friendship and affection.”

This news comes a few months after it was reported that Shakira split with her boyfriend of six years, Gerard Piqué. This time last year, Shakira also had to cancel performances due to her son’s illness, which she never fully disclosed. “Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick. Everything is under control now, and he’s back to his cheerful self!” she said at the time. Now we’re just hoping Shakira gets better very soon so we can see her back on stage!
