Poor Michael Keaton!

During Sunday night’s Oscars broadcast, Eddie Redmayne beat out Michael, 63, for the Best Actor honor.

As the winner was announced, the camera panned from Eddie back to the audience where the ‘Birdman’ star was spotted quickly returning his acceptance speech back to his pocket after realizing he’d lost.

We really can’t blame Michael — who portrayed a washed-up actor famous for playing the superhero Birdman in ‘Birdman’ — for having a speech prepared in case he did win, as most nominees jot down their “Thank You’s” beforehand.

Furthermore, the actor did take home the Best Actor Golden Globe and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture SAG Award earlier this awards season for his performance in the dark comedy.

And though Michael didn’t win, ‘Birdman’ was honored with the highly coveted Best Picture award at this year’s Academy Awards.

Don’t sweat it Michael, you’ll win next time!
