From one child star to another! Former teen heartthrob Scott Baio candidly opens up to Closer Weekly about growing up in front of the camera.
Putting it frankly, Scott insists that for a child star, getting a big head is inevitable!
"There was a moment in time when my head got so big it wouldn’t fit on the soundstage!" Scott, best known for playing "Happy Days’" cute cousin Chachi, jokes to Closer. "It can’t not happen."
However, he says having family and loved ones around kept him grounded. "My father and Garry Marshall verbally smacked it out of me, and that was pretty much it!"
And though there may have been temptations all around, he had the support and drive he needed to stay focused on what was important.
"I had my mom and dad, and I was never intrigued by drugs or alcohol. It seemed silly to me; if you were lucky enough to be blessed with a healthy body, why would you do anything to mess with that?"
In fact, doing the right thing has been Scott’s motto for years. “If you keep your head screwed on, it is an amazing life. That’s my credo.”
Now a doting dad to 6-year-old daughter Bailey and loving husband to his wife, Renee, he's thankful to be living the good life.
"At the end of the day, I’m just a little Italian-Catholic kid from Brooklyn, N.Y., and here I am living this life. It’s incredible for me. Sometimes you take it for granted, but a lot of times I go, ‘Man, how did I get here?’"
The star adds, "I’ve had the best life of anybody I know."
