After costarring with Laura Dern in 'The Fault in Our Stars,' Sam Trammell says he is undoubtedly rooting for the actress to win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar at this weekend's award ceremony.
In an exclusive interview with 'Closer Weekly,' Sam, 46, said, "I’m so happy for her. She’s without a doubt one of the most talented actresses of her generation. She’s always been one of my favorites."
In 2014, Sam and Laura, 48, played Michael and Frannie Lancaster, a married couple coping with their teenage daughter's terminal thyroid cancer diagnosis in 'The Fault in Our Stars.'

That same year, Laura portrayed Reese Witherspoon's character's cancer stricken mother in the biographical drama 'Wild.' It is for this role that the actress — whose parents are actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd — landed her second Academy Award nomination.

"I’m just really happy that she’s getting further recognition this year. She’s just such a sweet person and incredibly easy and generous to work with. She’s great," the actor added in his interview with 'Closer' on Friday, Feb. 20.

But Laura isn't the only star Sam — who recently starred as an alcoholic father in the film 'White Rabbit," which became available via video on demand on Feb. 13 — is rooting for at this year's Academy Awards.
"I love Patricia Arquette. I’ve worked with her and she is just such a sweet person, so I’m rooting for her," Sam told 'Closer.' "[And] Julianne Moore — she is an amazing actress and person!"
