Robert Downey Jr. is hopeful Cliffside Malibu rehab center will be able to help his son Indio, 20, the same way it helped him years ago. But a dear friend of Indio’s mother exclusively tells Closer the couple has a backup plan in case Cliffside fails.
“If Cliffside doesn’t work, Robert is committed to [sending Indio] to more serious rehab at Impact in Pasadena,” the friend of Deborah Falconer reveals to Closer. “It’s hard-core. The clients do all the labor and maintenance of the facility as part of the healing.”
Indio was checked into Cliffside following his June 29 arrest for cocaine possession, and a friend of Robert's tells Closer it may be all Indio needs since it helped his father in the past.
“Indio’s his father’s son,” the friend tells the mag. “Cliffside may work because it’s got an approach Indio will hopefully not resist. He promised his dad he’d be serious this time.”
In conjunction with rehab, Robert’s now working with Deborah, whom he divorced in 2004, to give Indio the best possible shot at a lasting recovery. A source says Robert and Deborah will attend therapy sessions with Indio, albeit separately.
“Indio’s parents have set aside their differences,” the source tells the mag. “They have a united front when it comes to his treatment.”
