Now that Rita Wilson is "one hundred percent healthy" after battling breast cancer, the actress is encouraging women to always get a second opinion from medical professionals when dealing with health issues.
"It's not just getting a second opinion from another doctor, which I also think is important, but in my case I got a second opinion on my pathology, because that pathology had come in that it was negative," the 59-year-old star said during a new interview on Today. "And I just had that gut [feeling]! And a girlfriend of mine who had had breast cancer twice suggested getting a pathology second opinion, and that's really the thing that made all the difference."

The That Thing You Do! star was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma — the second most common type of breast cancer — after having two surgical breast biopsies in April 2015. She then underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
Since announcing she's cancer-free last December, Tom Hanks' wife says she's never felt better. "I feel fantastic. What could be better, I'm like living the life of a rock star. But I feel healthy, 100 percent, that's the most important thing," Rita said.
So how does Rita's husband, Tom, 59, feel now that his wife is cancer-free? "He's just so happy... He's so supportive," she gushed.
