Friends and family of Richard Simmons are fearing for his health as the star is reportedly battling depression and consequently has not been seen out in public for almost a year.
The fitness guru was last photographed in public on Jan. 11, 2014 at a charity event and sources close to Richard say he has not been answering phone calls or allowing people to visit him at home, a new report states.

He has also reportedly stopped his regular pop-ins at his famed Beverly Hills exercise studio and the staff claims they have not received an explanation for his noticeable absence.

The 66-year-old is allegedly suffering from depression as a result of a knee injury. A source close to the star says doctors have told the fitness instructor he needs to undergo knee replacement surgery, but Richard is too terrified to get the operation.

Others close to the beloved personality say they believe Richard may be depressed and paralyzed with fear because he is dealing with more serious health issues than just the reported knee injury.
