Hmmm?Renée Zellweger “Forgot” She Was Once Married to Ex-Husband Kenny Chesney

Well, that’s awkward!

In a new interview, Renée Zellweger revealed she “forgot” she was once married to her ex-husband, Kenny Chesney!

“I forgot about that,” the 47-year-old actress told the Advocate. “It’s a pretty big thing to forget, isn’t it?” The two previously wed in May 2005 but had their marriage annulled just four months later. At the time, the short-lived union sparked rumors about the country singer’s sexuality.

“That made me sad,” the Bridget Jones’s Baby star said of rumors Kenny is gay. “It made me sad that somehow people were using that as a way to be cruel and calling someone gay as a pejorative, which has fateful consequences. Of course, there’s the bigger-picture problem of why anyone had to make up a story at all.”

When asked if she felt the need to defend Kenny in the wake of their high-profile split, Renée replied, “I’m an old-fashioned gal who doesn’t feel it’s appropriate to hang out your laundry on the lawn. I feel you devalue yourself as a human being when you share very personal things with a bajillion strangers who are making fun of you,” she shared. “I just don’t see that there’s any dignity in that. But sometimes it is difficult to just let something be what it is, especially when it’s unnecessary ugliness.”
