After more than 25 years in the spotlight, Reese Witherspoon has mastered Hollywood success — but there’s one part of her career she wishes she could change to this day.

In a candid new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old actress confessed she regrets filming movies during her three pregnancies.

“I did a movie every time I was pregnant, and I wish that I hadn’t. I just wish I’d just let myself be pregnant,” Reese said. The Oscar winner had three movies —
Cruel Intentions, Election, and Best Laid Plans — premiere in 2000, the year she gave birth to her first child, daughter Ava Phillippe.

Reese and her then-husband Ryan Phillippe welcomed their second child, son Deacon, in 2003. That year, the actress starred in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.

Reese and Ryan divorced in 2007 and she tied the knot a second time with talent agent Jim Toth in 2011. The actress gave birth to the couple’s son, Tennessee, in 2012, the same year her films This Means War and Mud hit theaters.

During her sit-down with THR, Reese also opened up about the challenges she faced while filming her new HBO show, Big Little Lies. “We were shooting the finale and we were on our seventh day of night shoots, and I was losing my mind,” she recalled.

“[Actors aren’t] machines, and we are expected to turn [our emotions] on and off, and sometimes it’s the most maddening aspect of what we do,” Reese said of the experience.
