Would you vote for Reese Witherspoon? And we don't mean in a school election a la her role in Election — could Reese be president of the US. The Hollywood actress — and successful producer! — recently revealed in an essay in the latest issue of Glamour that she wanted to be the first woman POTUS. Way to set your sights high, Reese.
"I have been ambitious all my life," she wrote. "In fact, I vividly remember telling my third-grade teacher that I wanted to be the first female president of the US. Ambition is simply a drive inside of you — it’s having a curiosity or a new idea and the desire to pursue it."

But, the 41-year-old didn't stop there. She wrote about how ambition is seen as a less-than-desirable character trait in women, which is ironic because Reese is living proof that ambitious women are successful. In 2012, she began her own production company — Pacific Standard — where she makes a point to produce female-driven stories like the Academy Award nominated film, Wild, and the Emmy nominated TV series, Big Little Lies.
"Women made up just 29 percent of protagonists in last year’s highest-grossing films — that’s a new high, but come on... it’s not even a third,” she continued. "The stakes are also much higher for stories about women. There is a lot of pressure to generate a huge profit. When any movie with a group of women starring in it doesn’t make heaps of money, the studio take away is that those types of films ‘aren’t working.' But the truth is not every movie works."
What can we say? Her Legally Blonde character, Elle Woods, would be proud of Reese's efforts to create more space for women in her industry!
