In Wild, Reese Witherspoon portrays a drug addict and recent divorcée who embarks on a personal journey by hiking more than 1,000 miles alone.
"It was scary and challenging," she said of playing the character in a new interview. "It's not just a movie about somebody walking. It's really about someone who feels profoundly hurt and lost."

But, perhaps the scariest part of playing Cheryl Strayed, she notes, was filming nude scenes for the big-screen adaptation of the 2012 memoir, "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail."
"I had to make a choice when I decided to do the film on how much I wanted to bear," Reese, 38, said of the role. "I have a real story to tell here because Cheryl was completely honest when she wrote her book."

And it seems Reese's decision to bear it all may pay off in a big way, as the Academy Award-winning actress is again garnering Oscar buzz for the role.
"It's beautiful to see her let go and get out of her comfort zone and say, ‘I am going to produce it, star in it and I am going to do it in a way that's going to be tough and I'm going to be naked and raw, both physically and emotionally,'" the film's director, Jean-Marc Vallée recently told E! News of Reese's performance.
The highly anticipated film hits theaters on Dec. 5.
